いよいよ石川遼のPGAツアー第3戦目となるアーノルド・パーマー・インビテーショナル（フロリダ州、ベイヒルGC＆ロッジ）が開幕する。
アーノルド・パーマー・インビテーショナルは歴史ある大会の一つだが、この大会名になったのは2007年と最近のことだ。元々アーノルド・パーマーがホストを務める大会として有名だが、1966年にフロリダ・シトラスオープンとして創設され、1996年からはベイヒル・インビテーショナルの名で親しまれてきた。
昨年の覇者はあのタイガー・ウッズだ（ついでに言うと2000年から2003年にかけてタイガーは今大会を4連覇している）。予選ラウンド終了時点でタイガーは首位のビジェイ・シンに7打差を付けられていた。しかし3日目から調子を取り戻し、最終日バート・ブライアントとの一騎打ちでは最終ホールで8mのバーディパットを沈め優勝をもぎとった。そして通算勝利数を64とし、ベン・ホーガンに並ぶ歴代通算勝利数3位タイになった思い出の大会。
（ちなみに現時点では歴代5位がアーノルド・パーマーで62勝、4位がベン・ホーガンの64勝、タイガー・ウッズは3位で65勝、2位はジャック・ニクラウスの73勝、そして1位がサム・スニードの82勝となっている）
タイガーにとってケガ後の復帰3戦目となり、直後にはマスターズが控えているだけに重要な大会になるだろう。
また石川遼とタイガー・ウッズが共に参加する大会はこれが初めてとなる。
2人の対戦が早くも見れるのか。
