「今夜（23日）、夕食で話し合うことにする。俺は決断をしなければならない。PGA of Americaを待たせたくない。招待していただいたことは光栄なこと。向こう24時間以内に決断しなければならない」とノーマン。
ノーマンが「本番」と位置づけた全英シニアオープンは日本時間24日15:10に最初の組がスタートする。ノーマンは最初の2日間、この大会を過去5年間で3度優勝しているトム・ワトソン、全英・マスターズの歴代優勝者サンディー・ライルと日本時間17:20にティオフする。それまでに決断を下すことになることになり、恐らく初日のラウンド後に動向を明らかにするのだろう。
全英オープンでの活躍もあり、ノーマンへのオファーはこれからも増えてくるだろう。もし全米プロに出場するようなことがあれば、4週間連続でのプレーとなり、これまでに複数の手術を受けている身体への影響が心配される。「今朝起きた時、身体が硬かったので余分にストレッチをした。それも昨日ほとんどボールを打っていないのにこの状態だ。（身体のことは）常に頭のどこかにあるよ」とノーマンは言う。更に、全米プロの週は「既に予定が入っている」と言うとおり、今のノーマンにはビジネスパーソンとしての半面もある。
ゴルフばかりしていられない・・・が本音なのだろう。ファンの視点からすると、「ホワイトシャーク」が再び若手を相手に奮闘する姿はやはり見てみたい。
