本題に入る前に、こんなブログパーツを見つけたので入れてみることにしました。
PGAツアーの公式サイトにソースが落ちていました。上位陣のスコアがライブで更新されていくので、たまたまこのブログを大会期間中に読んでいただけたなら、より臨場感が出るのかな〜と。いずれはサイドバーに取り入れたいと思っています。
さてさて、今週の「ジョンディア・クラシック」もいよいよ最終ラウンドが開始。首位タイに3名、3打差までに7名がひしめく混戦だが、最終日に標的にされそうなのは間違いなくこの人。

初日を終えた時にも紹介したケニー・ペリー。今田竜二とのプレーオフで破れたAT&Tクラシックから6大会で優勝2回、残りの4回はトップ6位以内に入っているという驚異的な安定感を見せている。ここ数ヶ月の好調の理由を聞かれた48歳ペリーは「そんな答えが分かっていたら20年前にやっているよ」とばっさり。3日目も67で回り、これで11ラウンド連続の60台のスコアを記録している。
過去11回の優勝のうち、8回は最終日をリード(または首位タイ)で迎えた時で通算12勝目は目前まできている。加えて、上位陣の顔ぶれは優勝経験の浅い選手ばかりで、ハーフを終えてからのプレッシャーがかかる場面でペリーの経験値は大きな味方になるだろう。
今大会で予選を通過した時点で、既にFedEx Cupポイントランキングでタイガー・ウッズに次ぐ2位に浮上することは確定している。タイガーが不在の今年はこの人が主役になりそうだ。
初日3アンダーでそこそこのスタート切った丸山茂樹は、2日目に3ダボ、3ボギーを含む77で予選落ち。復活はまだ遠いのかなぁ・・・。
また、11アンダーの単独11位には19歳のアマチュア、フィリップ・フランシス(米)が入っている。彼は現在UCLA(カリフォルニア)の2年生(今秋から)で、これまで4度PGAツアーの試合にアマチュア出場しているが予選を通過したのは今大会が初めて。そういえば、今週の日本女子ツアーでも18歳の女子高生、竹村真琴が健闘していたが、世界中で次世代を担うであろうアマチュアが頭角を現し始めている。ゴルフ界にとってはいい傾向であることは間違いない。
