地元ヒーローで今季初戦となったフィル・ミケルソンは5オーバー、121位タイと優勝争いどころか予選通過が苦しそうだ。同じく、今田竜二も4オーバー、118位タイとかなり苦しい。

この選手、恐らく日本にいるPGAツアーファンでも見たことはないでしょう。僕も初めて見ました。オーストラリア出身、26歳。ちょっと変わった趣味があるというか、物凄く正直な青年のようです。

「クラブ」はゴルフ「クラブ」ではなく、踊る方の「Clubbing（クラブ）」。遊びほうけてた学生がそのまま大人になっちゃった、って感じですね。初日、65をマークして記者会見に入ってきたニッティーズ。「あれ、消した方がいいですかね･･･誤解されちゃいそうですもんね」と言ったとか。当たり前だww
しかも、このFBRオープンは年間を通して最も騒がしく（＝酔っていて）、若い女子もたくさんいる大会。
「実は、この大会、最も楽しみにしていた大会の一つなんだ。俺のことを知ってたら分かると思うけど、こんな（騒がしい観客の）中で集中するのは大変だよ。でも、PGAツアーでプレーできていることを当たり前だと思ってはいけない。だからパーティモードをオフにして、めりはりを付けている。
「それにしても、この大会は『眺め』がいいよねw」
と、本当にパーティモードがオフになっているのかが微妙な感じですが、このニッティーズ、昨年のQTを勝ち抜いて、最終ラウンドで2位に入り今年のツアー出場権を獲得した選手。アダム・スコット、アーロン・バデリーらオーストラリアを代表する若手からまた新たにスターが誕生しそうな予感ですね（いろんな意味で）。
スコアほど初日のプレー内容はよくなかったようで、フェアウェーキープは14ホール中7回、パーオン率も66％（12/18）と決して胸を張れる内容ではない。明日以降の課題が明確ですね。
あまり余所見をせずに、プレーに集中できれば、ひょっとしたらひょっとしてしまうかもしれませんね。
