ということで調べてみました。ゴルフ（ゴルファー）と覚せい剤に関する過去の事例。意外とたくさんありました。
■ウォーカー・カップの英雄、自宅に1,400万円相当のコカイン押収で逮捕
2004年5月、北アイルランドが生んだ最高のアマチュアゴルファーと言われていたガース・マクジンプシーは自宅にコカインを所持していたのが判明し逮捕。しかも、その量がなんと100,000ポンド！日本円にして約1,400万円！
米国と英国（アイルランド）のアマチュアゴルファーの団体戦「ウォーカーカップ」のキャプテンとして英国チームを3連勝に導き、自身も3度選手として出場するなど、アマチュアとしての頂点を極めていたマクジンプシー。1985年の全英アマチュア選手権チャンピオンでもあります。
つーか、アマチュアでよくそんな大金あったな・・・。プロならまだしも。
■フェアウェイ（ゴルフ場）でコカイン売買した男が逮捕
2007年9月、イギリスでのこと。地元のアマチュアトーナメントに頻繁に出場していたビンセント・ペース容疑者（57）は、試合中のフェアウェイでコカインの売買をしていたそうなのです。自宅捜索後、ペース容疑者の自宅からはコカイン（4オンス）と金庫に入った現金14,000ドルが見つかり共に没収され懲役5年の刑が言い渡されたとか。
ペース容疑者はイギリスのグレンズ・フォールズという地域のゴルフ場で大会に出場し、売買を繰り返していたそうで、地元警察のブラックリストにも載っていたとのこと。ペース容疑者の話によると自宅に隠していた現金は子供の教育費にあてようとしていたそうなのです。
選手を装って、聖なるフェアウェイ上でこんな取引きをするなんてとんでもない男ですね。きっとゴルフの神様が見かねたのでしょう。
■ゴルフバッグ持ってたのに税関でハンデを聞かれて答えられなかった女性、シャフトの中にコカイン隠しててアウト
今年7月の話。空港の税関を出る際にゴルフバッグを持っていたので、税関担当者に「ハンデはいくつ？」と聞かれたケイティー・ドライヤーさん（23）。
しかし、ドライヤーさんはゴルフをしないどころか、「ハンデ」の言葉の意味がわからず何か「障害」を抱えているかを聞かれていると勘違いしたそうなのです。「ハンデが何かを聞くと、彼女は無表情になり、質問を繰り返し聞いていました。もう一回聞いても返事がなかったのです。ゴルフの専門用語だということも分からなかったのでしょう」と空港責任者は言っています。
怪しいと察した空港管理局は彼女のゴルフバッグを調べると、シャフトの（筒の）中に大量のコカインを発見！その量、なんと、83,000ポンド（約1,100万円）相当！ドライヤーさんは容疑を認め、懲役4年の刑を言い渡されたとのこと。

おばかさんですね･･･。それにしても凄まじい詰め方ですね。いろんな意味で「飛び」そうなクラブだ。
■ジョン・デイリーの暴言
1994年7月、ジョン・デイリーはPGAツアーのプロには多くのコカイン中毒者がいて、もしゴルフの競技で薬物検査が導入されれば「俺は最も潔癖な（中毒ではない）一人」と断言。ゴルフ業界全体に衝撃が走りました。
その年、デイリーは自主的に残り試合を欠場。その理由は「肉体的、精神的な疲労」が著しかったため。本当かな･･･。
■グランドキーパーらゴルフ場運営者13名、コカイン所持で一斉逮捕
今年6月、米アイダホ州にあるホワイトテイル・ゴルフ・リゾートでの出来事。ゴルフ場のグランドキーパー、ホセ・バルデスさん宅から0.5ポンドのコカインを押収されたのです。問題はバルデスさんはゴルフ場の従業員用住宅に住んでいて、同じ家に住んでいた外国人労働者12名も「麻薬売買がされていた場所を頻繁に行き来していた」とのことで逮捕されてしまったのです。
バルデスさん宅から押収されたコカインは21,000ドル（約200万円）相当で、バルデスさんは他の従業員を使ってコース上でプレーしていた客にブツを手渡させていたとのこと。
確かに、ゴルフ場って一旦中に入ってしまえば人影も少ないですし、監視カメラもないですからね（設置しているところもありますが）･･･こういう用途でゴルフ場が使われていると思うと、アメリカでゴルフをするのが少し怖くなってきたりもします。
