今週の「AT&Tナショナル」は初日からヒートアップした展開になっています。昨年度の覇者、24歳のアンソニー・キムが8アンダー「62」のコースレコードを叩き出したかと思えば、そのスコアを見ながらスタートした大会ホストのタイガー・ウッズが6アンダーで追随、2位タイの絶好のスタートを切りました。
今年はマスターズのタイガーVSフィルも面白かったけど、今週の大会もこのまま行けば、今年1、2位を争う好試合になるかもしれません！

タイガーがホストを務めるAT&Tナショナル。昨年のこの大会でタイガー不在の中、突如頭角を現したキム。
タイガーの次の世代の選手でもあり、
共に闘志をむき出しにする選手でもあり、
そしてNIKE GOLFの選手でもあり（あんまり関係ないか...）。
前日の記者会見でタイガーは「がめついホストになりたい」と言って笑いを取っていましたが、出るからにはどんな大会でも勝つ気満々、ホストだからといってそれを負ける理由にはしないと断言していました。昨年は膝の手術のリハビリで欠場。今年、この大会でいいところを見せたいという思いは誰よりも強いはず。
タイガーほどとは言えませんが、アンソニー・キムもツアー屈指の人気選手に成長しています。イニシャルの「AK」で知られ、少しトゲのある自信に溢れたプレースタイルでファンを魅了しています。どうでもいい話なんですが、昔「AKコンビ（西武の秋山・清原）」ってありましたね。。。本当にどうでもいい話です。
今年のキムの不調は主に親指のケガだと言われています。トップにクラブを上げた時に強く握れないためにグリップがずれてしまい、トップの位置で握り直していたそうなのです。そのケガも完治に向かっているようで、この「62」は大きな自信になるでしょう。それと、この「コングレッショナルCC」のコースレイアウトが相当好きなんでしょうね。昨年は4日間全て60台のスコアで完勝。大先輩のタイガーに「譲らないよ」と言わんばかりに今年も初日から飛ばしてきました。
「このコースは俺の目に合っていると思う。左右にぶれた時も、ライが悪くないんだ。運が味方してくれている気がする。そういうコースってあまりないからね」とキム。
キムの「62」は自身のベストスコア。それまでのベストは今年のマスターズで11バーディを奪った「65」。AKは本当に不思議な選手で、一度乗り始めたら止まらない・止められないんですよね。
キムのような選手って周りがスコアメイクに苦しむ展開になると一番怖い存在ですね。全米オープンでも、プレーが再開された2日目の午前中は一時トップに立っていましたからね。調子も上がってきているのでしょう。
ただ、2日目以降、スコアは全体的に落ち着きそうですね。ラウンド後、タイガーは「今日はグリーンがソフトだったし、デッドに狙っていける日。それでも終わってみれば（毎日）イーブン、1、2アンダーくらいまではいいスコアになっているはず」と言っていました。残りの3日間はコンディションが変わっていくのでしょう。
そんな状況が予想できる中での8アンダーは、相当なアドバンテージになるはず。タイガーの課題はやはりパッティング。全米オープンであれだけ苦しんでいたのが嘘のように、初日のパット数は27回、ロングパットも距離感が合っていました。
