今週の「チューリッヒ・クラシック・オブ・ニューオリンズ」2日目を終わって首位争いは混戦模様。10アンダーの単独首位にジェリー・ケリーが立つも、4打差に19名が付けています。
先日クリーブランドと再契約してそろそろ復活が期待されると紹介したデビッド・トムズは8アンダー、Twitterで突っ込みどころ満載の書き込みをしているパーカー・マクラクリンはどうやら本当にスイングが安定してきているみたいで同じく8アンダーに付けています。

マスターズ最終日、2ホールを2打差のリードを守りきれなかったペリー。そのショックからどうやって立ち直ったのか、マスターズが終わってから何をしていたのかなど、今週の大会前はペリーのツアー復帰が話題になっていました。
あの悲劇的な自滅の後、グレッグ・ノーマンとフィル・ミケルソンから直々激励の電話をもったそうです。もちろん、ノーマンもミケルソンもペリーの気持ちが痛いほど分かるのでしょう。
更に、応援してくれていた人から600通を越えるメール、何百通もの直筆の手紙やハガキをもらったとのこと。「すごく辛かった。1996年に全米プロ選手権を負けた時と同じ感覚が戻って来た。それでも本当に多くのファンの温かいサポートは、正直ビックリした。勇気をもらった」
「ハガキを送ってくれた人たちの言葉を読んでいると目から涙が止まらなくなった。自分で冷静に何が起きたかを振り返っている時より、よっぽど感情的になった。みんなの声援と愛情が一番嬉しかった」
「今週もこの場所（ニューオリンズ）でなければ出場したくなかった。この街は（ハリケーン）カトリーナで大変な思いをしていて、復興に向けて自分が来ることで何か役に立てるのであればと思って・・・。賑やかな会場や街での試合だったら確実に出場していなかっただろうね」
それでもまだマスターズでの何かが引っかかっているのかもしれません。2日目、順調にスコアを伸ばして残り2ホールで8アンダーと絶好の位置につけていたのですが、最後の2ホール（8番、９番）をボギー⇒ダブルボギーと3つスコアを落として4位タイから21位タイまで後退。
48歳という年齢から来るスタミナの問題なのか、それともマスターズで起きたことの「後遺症」なのか・・・。
少しずつ自信を取り戻していくのかもないのかもしれないですね。
