多分、どんなに綺麗な言葉で今年の全英を語ろうとしても、ワトソン本人の言葉以上に重みのあるものはないことに気付きました。ということで、昨夜、YouTubeや欧米の動画サイト巡りに巡って、ワトソンのラウンド後のインタビューものを探してみました。そして翻訳してみました（英語インタビューもエンベッドしておきます）。

Q：最初に18番のグリーンに上がってきた時の心境を教えてください。
ワトソン：「非常に残念だ。この大会をほぼ手中に収めていて、そのチャンスを逃してしまった。私は終わってからの『たられば』を言いたくない。その時、自分が打つべきショットを打ったと思っている。（レギュレーションの18番の2打目は）8番アイアンを思い通りに打てたけど、グリーンをオーバーしてしまった。その後与えられた状況をうまく処理することができなかった。上りのラインだったから、パターで打ったら強すぎた」

ワトソン：「（プレーオフ最初の）5番ホールのティショットはタフな状況だったけど良いショットを打てた。2打目が酷いショットで・・・そこから歯車が狂い始めたのかな。精一杯やっていなかったわけじゃないんだ。それまでの感覚が、私から去っていった・・・のかな」
Q:今週、何度も「スピリット（霊性）」がここまで誘導してくれていると言っていました。あなたをここまで活躍させた原動力は何だったのですか？
ワトソン：「わからない・・・ひょっとしたら目には見えない力が私を引っ張ってくれていたのかもしれない。（長年ワトソンのキャディを務め、2004年に病で他界した）ブルース（・エドワーズ）が見てくれていたのか、上にいる多くの人が私を応援してくれていたのかもしれない。分からない。でも、信じられないような1週間だった。すごいストーリーになっていたのにね・・・」
Q：今週の収穫があったとしたらそれは何ですか？
ワトソン：「今週の初めに感じていたことが間違っていなかったこと。このコースを熟知していて、練習ラウンドでもいいプレーをしていた。収穫があるとすれば、59歳でも良いプレーを続ければ勝てないわけではない、ということだ。それが今週の収穫かな・・・」

「ラフからのパターだった。（パターの方が）寄せられると思った。上りのラインに（逆の）芝目が見えたのでショートしてはいけないと思って打った。強すぎた。次は酷いパットだった」
「プレーオフは悪いショットの連続だった。スチュワートは勝つためにするべきことはやっていた。プレーオフは競えるような内容ではなかったね」
