全英オープンの１、２日目は、日本人選手を応援する我々（我々？）にとっては面白い展開になりそうだ。

予選ラウンドの２日間の組み合わせが発表され、今季アメリカで初優勝を挙げた今田竜二はなんと！優勝候補の一人セルヒオ・ガルシアとショーン・オヘアと同組に。また、一昨年の全英で５位タイに入りその名を世界に広めた谷原秀人はフィル・ミケルソンとポール・ケーシーと英米の超人気選手とのラウンドとなる。
それでも今田、谷原が共通するのは「大舞台」に強く、いい意味で日本人離れしたハートの強さを持っているところだ。それぞれのプレイングパートナーに動じることもなければ、淡々と自分のゴルフができるので逆にギャラリーがいた方が燃えてきて、スーパープレーを出してくれるのではないか、、、と密かに期待してしまう。
