全英オープン2日目が始まっている。2日目は初日とは異なる順番でのスタートとなり、全く逆ではないが、初日の午後スタートだった選手の多くは午前中にティオフする。初日は午前組が圧倒的に不利な悪天候の中でのプレーとなり、午後組の選手がスコアボードの上位を独占した。天候だけを見ると、どうやら2日目も初日の午後組が有利になりそうだ。

初日が終わった深夜から翌日にかけて、バークデール地方の天気は「穏やか」だった。昨日の午後組は同じような天候状態でプレーを再開できることになる。2日目の午後(初日の午前)組にとって厄介なのは、2日目は時間が経つにつれ天気が崩れていき、風も強くなり時折雨も降るとの予報だからだ。要は、昨日とは全く逆の天気になる予報なのだ。
初日、午後組で天気を味方にし、首位と1打差のイーブンパーで終えたグレッグ・ノーマンはラウンド後
「我々の組は抽選の運があったよね。・・・でも『いや、俺もああいう日もあった。俺も運がない抽選に当たった時はあった』と考えなきゃな。全てはバランスが取れるようになっているんだ。そして運の良い時は、それを利用しなければいけないんだ」と言っていた。2日連続で「好天」に恵まれたノーマンら初日の午後組が、2日目もリーダーボードの上位を占めることになりそうだ。
日本時間17：30時点で昨日の午後組だったロッコ・メディエイトが1アンダーで単独首位。同じく昨日の午後組アダム・スコットがイーブンパーで単独2位、ノーマン、フレデリック・ヤコブセンらが1オーバーで3位タイグループにつけている。
天気を味方にしたい日本人組では、今田竜二が先陣を切って日本時間17：20にスタート。次の組に矢野東、続いて岩田寛、塚田好宣、谷原秀人、松村道央、甲斐慎太郎の順でラウンドを開始しする。
