大会が始まる前に紹介した今田竜二のESPN.comダイアリー。僕がパツパツだったため更新できていませんでしたが、毎日寄稿していたようです（本当に書いていたかは微妙ですが...）。
取り急ぎ、3日目（イーブンパーのラウンド）後の日記を紹介しておきます。恐らく明日、最終日の日記が更新されると思います。

土曜日のラウンドは終了し、残念ながら前日と同じような結果になってしまいました。序盤、5番、7番でいいショットが出てバーディ先行となりましたが、フロントナインのパー5でいずれもスコアを伸ばすことができませんでした。
フロントナインで2アンダーとしてバックナインにその勢いを継続しようと意気込んでました。でもパッティングが不調で、12番、13番と3パットしてしまい勢いがなくなってしまいました。ここに出ている選手の中でもパッティングは上手い方だとは思っているのですが、今週のグリーンのスピードとラインは他の大会よりはるかにチャレンジングで難しいです。
これまでと同様に、12、13番の後、15から18番までスコアを伸ばすチャンスは作れました。しかし一つも沈めることができずにこの日はイーブンパー、通算で1オーバーに止まりました。スイングの調子が良くてもっと攻めたいと思っているのに冷静にならなければいけないのが何とも歯がゆくて･･･。そういう時こそダブルボギー、それ以上叩いてしまっている選手を見かけます。自分はその罠にはまることはなく、ビッグナンバーを叩かずに来れています。
大会が始まる前から言っていますが、3メートル近辺のパットを沈めた選手が必ず上位に来ます。僕はそれができていません。アンジュレーション、グリーン上の微妙な変化が自分の判断を鈍らせています。
コースセッティングですが、他の大会と比べると、マスターズはピンロケーションにかなり神経を使っているのが分かります。ピンの場所がそこにあるのにはそれなりの理由があるのです。マスターズ委員会に挑戦状を叩き付けられたかのようです。
セッティングはフェアで、しっかりとショットメイクできればバーディは取れるようになっています。簡単ではありませんが、フェアでスコアもそれを反映していると思います。ここ数年の優勝スコアに関して批判をされたということもあって、そして好天と（マスターズ委員会の）配慮もあり、今週は良いセッティングの中でプレーできています。午後の時間は皆さんと同じように後半の組の選手を見ていますが、トップにいる連中はやはりパットを決めているし、よく考えてプレーしているのが分かります。
今週はあっという間に過ぎてしまっていて、これから上達するために必要なものも数多く見えてきましたし、（初出場の）思い出は数え切れません。夢に見た以上のものを得ています。
明日、最終ラウンドが終わったら少し客観的に起きたことを振り返りたいと思います。今は37位タイですが、日曜日に達成すべく目標はあります（トップ16位に入れば来年の招待を受けられる！）。パットさえ落ち始めてくれれば、ロースコアも出せると思っています。

実際本人が書いているのか、口頭で話したことを記者が書いているのかは不明ですが、これだけ考えながら、悩みながらプレーしているのが分かると、マスターズという舞台のありがたみが更に増してきます。
ブレークスルーするためのきっかけを必死になって探している今田竜二。その気持ちをレギュラーツアーでも持ち続ければ、来年もきっと「夢の舞台に」戻ってこれる（はず）！
